Synthesis and photoluminescence of Cd(sub 1-x)Mn(sub x)S (x = 5%) nanocrystals
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the synthesis and luminescence properties of Cd(sub 1-x)Mn(sub x)S nanocrystals with x = 5%. Accurate determination of the mean Mn concentration x, which was effectively incorporated into the CdS network, was made. The characteristic luminescence features such as emission maximum wavelength and lifetime were investigated. A simple model provides an accurate way to analyze Mn concentration and distribution within Cd(sub 1-x)Mn(sub x)S crystallites without perturbative effects due to manganese ions found outside the nanoparticles.

Solution-based growth and optical properties of self-assembled monocrystalline ZnO ellipsoids
Article Abstract:
The first large-scale synthesis of unusual ZnO ellipsoids by a facile solution process and their optical properties are reported. The results have shown that these self-assembled microstructures composed of nanoparticles and orientationally aligned nanorods are formed by the oriented-attachment mechanism.

Morphological control and photoluminescence of zinc oxide nanocrystals
Article Abstract:
Nanocrystals of the wide band gap semiconductor zinc oxide of controllable morphologies is synthesized by a simple thermal decomposition method. The intensity of the green band emission, common to many ZnO structures, was found to vary with morphology.
